The Legend of the Rainbow Bridge
Rainbow bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge.....

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.  There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.  There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour:  those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.  The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing:  they each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind.  They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.  His or her bright eyes are intent:  the eager body quivers.  Suddenly he or she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, legs going faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion never to be parted again.  The happy kisses rain upon your face:  your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together.....written by that very famous, overworked writer:- Unknown

K9ARC animals waiting at Rainbow Bridge

Kick

2008-2009

A little black kitten, aged about 5 weeks old came to live at K9ARC having been rescued by a local rescue organisation from the middle of a road. Within a week he was joined by two feral kittens that we found  and became part of our household they all atended the ttouch dog workshop, sat in the training centre watching the dog training classes and would come and collect us after classes so they could get their dinner. Kick aged about 8 months old he was killed on the road. We miss his gentle waysand in his short life he taught us lots.

Seems we are not meant to own a cat called Kick

Jenna

2003 - October 2008

The first dog I took to agility was Jenna. She was four and a half years old, and died of cancer. But now she has a safe and happy home at Rainbow Bridge where no illnesses are

Loved forever by

Eloise [Age 9]

Tina

June 1997-Feb 2008

Tina was a larger than life character who brought joy to everyone around her, she was the most lovable and loyal companion you could ever wish for and I'm proud to have been part of her world. She really was one in a million and is greatly missed. Never to be forgotten

‘Tyrone’ November 2007

Rainbow Bridge is for all our animal companions not just our K9s, so I feel honoured to be asked by my old neighbour and friend if ‘Ty’ her beautiful, loving feline could be added to K9ARCs Rainbow Bridge, Tyrone never came to K9ARC however she shared her life with me and my five dogs for two years when I lived next door to her, she allowed me to love her and I missed her when I moved, her photograph sitting on my dressing table and her spirit lives on.

She will not go quietly,
the cat who've shared all our lives.
In subtle ways she’ll let us know
her spirit still survives.

Old habits still make us think
we hear a meow at the door.
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.

Our feet still go around the place
where the food dish used to be,
And, sometimes, coming home at night,
we miss her terribly.

And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to Ty. . . and always will.

On the 18th of January 2007 we had to say goodbye to our beautiful Roxy

We got her a year ago she was a rescue pup who was badly treated so we decided to give her a home

In her short time with us she filled our hearts with joy and give us so much love and memories which we will treasure for ever no one will ever take her place she will always be our special girl.

If tears could build a stair case and memories a lane I would climb right up to rainbow bridge and bring you back again.

Run free our precious girl there’s no pain anymore.

All our love until we meet again

Elaine, Thomas, and all the kids and your wee friend Honey xxx

Kick 2000- 3/5/05

Kick, although not a K9, moved out to the country with us, in January 2005 and he loved it, although an urban cat he took to rural life very well, and "owned" everything that he walked on. He often sat on the top of the house, to check everything out. Unfortunately, for him, the road was included in that.

He loved watching the K9's being trained, often walking through the dogs, he thought it was part of their training, he also did agility, he loved walking up the dog  or "cat" walk, even the tyre was his.

Red has now lost her best friend, as you can see by the photo, and Dusty his daily chase, and we have lost our unique ear sucking cat.

Kick will be missed by all of us, however his memory will be with us forever

Jap 1002-2005

Jap was my first dog in agility, we started in the breed ring and very disheartened wanted to do "something else" instead. He was too young to be written off as just a pet. Ronnie started us off with finding out if he could or would play. He did and he loved it. He showed me a K9 sport could be fun, no fixing and friendly. Only when he was 8 years old and an injury on the A-Scale stopped him, did he eventually become a "pet". I had many successes with him, but most of all we had fun.

Thanx wee man, you may have been small, but you had a big heart and have left a big space.
